GALLANT PICKED IN SECOND ROUND OF THE CFL DRAFT
RICHMOND, Ky. - Former Eastern Kentucky University free safety Shawn Gallant has been chosen in the second round of the Canadian Football League Draft by the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Gallant, a native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, who was a second-team All - Ohio Valley Conference choice in 1998 for the Colonels, was the eighth overall pick and the first pick of the second round of the CFL Draft.
Last season, Gallant had the fifth most tackles for the Colonels with 44 solo hits and 20 assists. He also was credited with two tackles for loss, three pass interceptions, eight pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and one caused fumble.
His career totals at EKU showed him with 111 solo tackles, 44 assists, four fumble recoveries and six interceptions.
