COLONEL FOOTBALL BANQUET TO BE HELD FRIDAY NIGHT

RICHMOND, Ky. - The 1999 Eastern Kentucky University Football Banquet will be held Friday, April 16, at the Stratton Building cafeteria on campus with a reception at 6:30 p.m. to be followed at 7:30 p.m. with the dinner.

The banquet will honor the 1998 Colonels, who finished the season 6-5, and will also recognize six Colonel football teams from the past (1938, 1948, 1958, 1968, 1978 and 1988). Several items from NFL football players (jerseys, footballs, football cards) will be auctioned at the banquet to raise money for EKU's Worn Cleat Club.

Cost for the dinner will be $20.00 per person.

Former EKU standout fullback Tim Lester will be the guest speaker for the evening's festivities. He spent his first three years in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams and has spent the last four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He came to Eastern from Miami Southridge High School. While at EKU, Lester rushed for 3,635 yards on 682 carries and scored 37 touchdowns.

The weekend will culminate Saturday with the annual Maroon-White Spring Game to be played at 7:00 p.m. at Roy Kidd Stadium.
