EKU KICKER NAMED OVC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, Ky. - Eastern Kentucky University junior placekicker Jason Martin was named Co-OVC Specialist of the Week for his effort in EKU's 23-20 double overtime victory over Tennessee Tech last Saturday.

Martin kicked the game-winning 25-yard field goal at the end of the second overtime to give Eastern the come-back win. He scored 11 of the team's 23 points as he added field goals of 23 and 24 yards and 2-2 extra points against the Golden Eagles.

He did this while kicking with a sore right foot that limited his practice kicks to just three during the week leading up to the Tennessee Tech game.

"This was a great effort by Jason. We did not know until game time Saturday if he would be able to kick, and then, to think he won the game with a field goal is almost unbelievable," said EKU head coach Roy Kidd.

Eastern, ranked 23rd, 24th and 25th this week in the three NCAA I-AA polls, closes the regular season with a 2:00 p.m. home game Saturday against Eastern Illinois.
