Two Letters... Scooter missed all of spring practice
rehabilitating a knee injury suffered against Middle Tennessee last year
which caused him to miss the remainder of the 1998 season... injured his
other knee and was lost for the season in the '97 opener vs. Troy State...
will enter fall drills as the starter at strong safety... is expected to
have a big year and be among the better safeties in the OVC... definite
all-conference candidate and possible All-American candidate... had
a very solid first season of collegiate football that saw him gain first-team
All-Ohio Valley Conference honors for 1996... one of only two freshmen
in the league to be honored this way that year... started all 11 games
and was third on the team and 12th in the league in tackles and assists
with 96... led the team and tied for fifth in the league in interceptions
with four... twice named OVC Newcomer of the Week in '96 for his efforts
against Troy State and Appalachian State... split time his freshman year
between strong and free safety... received team's Most Valuable Defensive
Back Award for '96... jumped right into a starting spot in the secondary
as a redshirt freshman in '96... has tons of football savvy... has run
a 4.63 40-yard dash... was an all-District quarterback and was co-MVP in
the state championship game as Plano won the Texas Class 5A Division I
state football crown in 1994... graduate of Plano Senior High School.
