Three Letters... Shawn is coming off an excellent
1998 season that saw him make second-team All-OVC honors... was second-leading
tackler on the team and the 21st best in the OVC last season with 68 hits
(52T, 16A)... member of EKU Winners Club... received the award from the
EKU coaching staff as the 1998 Player of the Year among Colonel Defensive
Backs... had three games of 10 hits or more in 1998, led by 13-hit efforts
in the last two contests of the year with Appalachian State and Eastern
Illinois... entered the fall as the starting free safety... has improved
his tackling and decision making as his career has progressed... had a
solid '99 spring practice while battling a knee injury... will be a leader
on defense and also contribute on special teams... had two tackles, one
assist and returned an interception 43 yards in '99 spring game... should
challenge for spot on the 1999 first team all-conference unit... best game
of '97 came vs. Tennessee State when he had five tackles, one assist and
one pass deflection... has the athletic tools to be a great safety... breaks
on the ball as good as anyone in the secondary... graduate of J.L. Forster
High School.
