strength and conditioning program... got stronger and quicker... finished
the spring as the solid No. 1 quarterback... showed improvement in his
release and decision making ability in spring practice... appeared more
confident and relaxed as the Colonels' starting quarterback... teammates
believe in his ability to lead team following his season-ending start and
last second touchdown pass vs. Eastern Illinois last year... has strong
arm with a good touch on his passes... has improved his running ability
since last year... hit 13-28 passes for 255 yards with two touchdowns,
including the game-winning 26-yard scoring pass to Rondel Menendez
with 34 seconds to play in 28-24 season-ending win over Eastern Illinois
that gave Eastern a winning season in 1998... also threw 62-yard TD pass
in the EIU game to Menendez... was backup QB his freshman year to co-OVC
Offensive Player of the Year Simon Fuentes and was second-string signalcaller
last year to highly-touted Jon Denton... redshirted in 1996 as a true freshman...
top game of '97 came vs. UT Martin when he hit 10-18 passes for a career-high
186 yards and one TD... has knack for making big plays... led the Bobcats
to a 15-0 record and the Class AA state championship in being named
1995 Class AA Player of the Year... passed for 6,023 yards and 88 touchdowns
in his high school career... graduate of Breathitt County High School.
