Two Letters... Butch started all 11 games at weakside linebacker in 1998 and had numerous big plays... was fourth on the team in tackles-assists with 54 hits... member of EKU Winners Club (a gradeout of 70 percent or better in seven or more games)... best game of 1998 came vs. UT Martin when he totaled two tackles, five assists, caused a fumble and recorded a sack... understands defense better than any linebacker on team, playing middle linebacker for last five practices of the spring due to injuries... needs to continue to improve strength... is explosive and has made numerous big hits the last two years, including a sack of the Middle Tennessee quarterback last season in the last two minutes of the game that secured the Colonels' victory... should be able to lead defense by example and be a complete linebacker... with his experience, he will be expected to shoulder more responsiblity as he takes on his junior year... was the surprise of the linebackers of the 1997 season... transferred from Bowling Green State University in 1997 and earned starting position by third game... started in 10 of the 11 games in which he appeared that season... top games of '97 were six-tackle efforts vs. Tennessee State and Southeast Missouri... graduate of Hamilton High School.
